Meetings without a bot in the call

The usual way to get a meeting transcript is to invite a service into the call and let it sit there as a participant. Sayframe does it from your side of the glass: your Mac captures the audio, transcribes it on-device, and files the transcript in a Library you can search. Nobody else has to agree to install anything.

How a meeting becomes text

  1. 1Start capture on your Mac before or during the call. Sayframe takes what your Mac plays and what your microphone hears, so both sides of the conversation are in the recording.
  2. 2Transcription runs on-device with whisper.cpp and Apple Speech, the same engines used for dictation. No upload is required for a meeting to become text.
  3. 3The transcript lands in your Library, where it is searchable and exportable, and where you can delete it. Import an existing recording and it goes through the same path.

Roadmap

Capture and transcription are free on-device. Budgeted hosted summaries are on the roadmap.

Why capturing from your side matters

Nothing to admit to the call

No assistant appears in the participant list, so there is no moment where everyone watches a vendor bot ask to be let in.

It works where bots are not allowed

Plenty of companies block third-party participants outright. Capture happens on your machine, so that policy is not in the way.

It is not limited to video calls

A conversation in a room, a phone call on speaker, or a recording someone sent you all go through the same capture and transcription path.

Consent is still yours to get

Read this first

Recording a conversation is regulated differently almost everywhere, and in some places every participant has to agree. A tool that records quietly from your machine makes that easier to forget, not less important. Sayframe does not announce itself to the call and cannot tell where the other people are sitting, so asking is on you. It takes one sentence at the top of the call.

When another app is the better buy

If what you actually want is a summary in your inbox and a row in a CRM after every call, a notetaker that joins the meeting and syncs with your calendar does that today and Sayframe does not. If your work is mostly transcribing files and folders rather than live conversations, MacWhisper is built around that job. Spokenly also records mic and system audio on the Mac without a bot, and like Sayframe it stops at the transcript.
